With a noble dream of turning the womenfolk of the northern sub-divisional region into an enlightened and educated part of this nation, an effective decision-making- meeting about the establishment of Nilphamari Women's College was taken place on the 14th of august in 1972, the post-liberation critical period. Being members of different committees and boards those who played strong and effective roles in taking pragmatic decision about college establishment, location selection, teacher appointment and all other managing activities were Late Advocate Dabir Uddin Chowdhury, Late Advocate Motiar Rahman Chowdhury, The then MP Afsar Ali Ahmed, Late Advocate Isahak Ali, Late eminent educationalist Abu Nazem Mohammad Ali, Ahosan Ahmed and Prof. Md. Mosarraf Hossain. The student hostel of the Govt. Girls' High School was given to this newly established college under the condition of lease allotment. At the very beginning the class conducting activities of this newly set up college were started in the Govt. Girls' High School (building). The venerable teachers of the Nilphamari College (Nilphamari Govt. College at present) co-operated a lot in this respect. At the time of a visit of the then educational minister Prof Eusuf Ali , the college got grant for the first time. The boundary wall-making activities and the work of the remaining reformation were also accomplished at that very time. The college was nationalized in 1984. The Science department was launched in 2010. At Present honours courses on two subjects are being taught and more honours-course-opening activities on different subjects are going on. Now the location of the college is beside the main road in the heart-centre of the Nilphamari town. Nilphamari Govt. Women's College is an example of those district-level-colleges being undercared and suffered from teacher shortage. Despite all these the college is still on smooth function with the cordial attempt and co-operation of the appointed teachers along with guest teachers and part-time teachers.
