This Padma basin, known as silk city Rajshahi, is a famous site for learning. In the western part of Rajshahi city corporation, near the centre of district adminisration, Rajshahi court college is situated. This college, the best institutuion among the non-government colleges of this area, is gradually stepping into its 30 th year. Rajshahi Court college first started working as a night college in 1972. During that time, under the direct patronisation of the then relief and rehabilitation minister A H M Kamruzzaman, this college started functioning at first on the PTI campus, but later on was shifted to Rajshahi court Academy School building. After the passing of a few years, this college came to a dead stop. Again some educated elite of this area came forward to revive this institution. On the vanished grandeur of that night college, they established afresh a new college under the title of "Rajshahi Court College" at its present site in 1984. This founder chairman and the principal of this college were Dr. Mujibur Rahman and Abdus Samad respectively. The college got the affiliation of Rajshahi Education Board on Jan 1984 for the first time. This institution has been playing an important role in spreading education in this neglected area of the western part of Rajshahi City Corporation since its inception. However, with the apponitment of Mr. Shafiqur Rahamn as the principal of this college, it did not need to look back. With his whole hearted effort, he was able to enlist the college as an institution of Rajshahi city Corporation. By this time the corporation has built up the boundary wall of this college. Very soon the construcction of a new building will start and the reconstruction of the main gate and a link road among the buildings of the college is under the approval process of Rajshahi city corporation. Degree course started in this college in 1995. Now, the honours course in 3 subjects has also been running here since 2012 and has got the permission of opening honours in Islamic History in 2013-14 session and Economics is also under the process of affiliation.
