The college was established in 1969 as the college section of the Dawood Public school in the Dawood Public school premise. The college was shifted to the present campus in 1983. Initially it started as an intermediate college with humanities group only, but ultimately it became a full-fledged intermediate college by 1985 and degree college by 1996. Honours course in three subjects was introduced in 1996 and Masters Course in 1999. The Directorate of Military Lands and Cantonments (DML&C) through Cantonment Board, Jessore has been controlling the affairs of the college, since its inception
